"The Public Health Challenge of Chronic Diseases in the Asia Pacific Region"
June 17 - 19, 2010
Hosted by:
Nanjing University
As the world reels from the current economic crisis, public health systems everywhere are under severe strain. And as governments, businesses, universities and philanthropic organizations make hard decisions about how to meet mounting needs with shrinking resources, the health of populations, especially the vulnerable, will invariably be affected.
The Association of Pacific Rim Universities’ World Institute (AWI) is a platform whereby leading researchers, policy advisors and business executives regularly transcend national borders to address issues of regional and global concern. We are pleased that this two and a half day workshop, including a symposium brings together leading public health policy makers and thinkers from around the world, both to share country perspectives and experiences and to suggest how governments, businesses, universities and philanthropic organizations can, in partnership, turn necessity and challenge into virtue and opportunity.
