The 6th Senior Staff Meeting at the Melbourne Business School
APRU’s 6th SSM, included a Forum based on the theme “Changing Trends in Higher Education in the Pacific Rim: Realities and Opportunities". Experts, faculty and students were invited to give Australian and regional perspectives at panel discussions on the impact of the global financial crisis and internationalization on higher education. The Forum ended with a breakout session where Senior Staff were divided into groups to discuss subtopics related to the internationalization strategies of universities.
Senator the Hon. Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research was the keynote speaker for the APRU Forum on March 19. Apart from updating the meeting on Australia’s international research collaborations, he also spoke about Australia’s strategies for boosting recruitment in the higher education sector, as well as advancing research and innovation in the future.

The meeting attracted a total of 57 participants from 32 APRU member universities and concluded with an ALOUD Forum where Senior Staff exchanged information on current or future innovative projects and developments in their universities.
