The Fellows Program is an annual seminar series that aims to develop the professional capacity of outstanding early career faculty at APRU member universities. It brings together faculty members from a variety of disciplines to examine issues relating to the sociopolitical, cultural, and economic realities of the Pacific Rim.

Each seminar has its own theme and complements scholarly discussions with synchronized field immersion experiences in the country of the host university.

To promote inclusive and long-term collaboration, participants of each program are invited work together in groups of 2-4 people (preferably from different economies) and produce collaborative research papers which may be published in a special paper series.

Between 2002 and 2006, award schemes such as the APRU Collaborative Research Paper Award and the APRU Collaborative Research Seed Grants Program, were introduced to encourage participation in the collaborations.
